What's
New This Week!
New Hot Babe of
the Week is up and this go-round it's the Kara Sahin F-4E Phantom
from the Turkish Air Force. This sheet will debut at the IPMS
Convention in both 72nd and 48th scale.
We
have a combination of good news/bad news on the T-2C Buckeye kit
this week. The good news is that the folks at MPM are using new CNC
machining technology to tool our new kit (in their words this will
be one of the best kits they've ever done). The bad news is that
this machine works extremely slow and has delayed the release of our
kit. In short, they will not be available in time for the IPMS
National Convention. Both MPM and us went back on forth on this to
figure out if there was any way we could accelerate production but
the kit quality would have suffered so we're doing the right thing
and just letting this run its course. The boxes, decals, instruction
sheets and CD are all complete and we're just waiting for the kits
to show up. Our aftermarket as well as the kit decal sheets were
sized up using one of the test shots they made available to me so
you can be assured that these will fit accurately on the model.
Sorry guys, I so wanted to make a big splash with these at
the show but to delay the release truly is the right thing to do so
we can assure that all of you get a quality product.
The
pre-orders have gone so well over here that we've communicated to
MPM that our first production run will have to be increased and to
that end, we've turned the links back on for TBK48-002 which is the
Naval Trainer version.
The Nats special kit will continue to
be offered up until we sell out of the 500 kits that we had
earmarked with those special markings. If you were planning on
picking one of those up at the show, you might want to order that
guy up now before they're gone forever.
Another great piece
of news on the Buckeye kit is that we're making them available to
our friends north and south of the border in Canada! We've worked
out the logistics of being able to support the shipping of these
kits to Canada/Mexico and we're now prepared to let you folks
pre-order those as well. Be sure to order product number
TBK48-002C/M if you're from either one of these countries. The
pricing has been adjusted to compensate for the postage to those
countries. The rest of the world outside of the US/Canada/Mexico
will have to source their kits from Hannants in the UK or Beaver
Corporation in Japan.
We'll have more news to announce on
the IPMS National Convention in next week's newsletter as far as
show specials, Twobobs Hospitality Suite status and what our raffle
giveaway will be this go-round!
Decals
In Work!
Here's
what's coming as far as our next batch of releases that will be part
of our Nats release group. This is the final grouping and these will
be available at our booth in Columbus. Website links will be turned
on 17 Aug 09. Speaking of website, all of these products have been
uploaded to the site and you can preview them there as well.
The instruction sheet images above represent the markings
that will come with the two kits we are releasing. All the images
below are of the aftermarket sheets that are part of our regular
monthly releases.
There's a
couple of decal sheets that will be debuting at the Nats as well
that I'm close to finishing instructions on. These are below and
I'll post instruction sheet images when they are done.
The VFA-115
sheet features the new CAG scheme for their squadron and I've
included the jets from one of our releases back in 2001 right after
OIF kicked off. All the great nose art and mission markings from
that era are included and all of these markings have been resized
for the Hasegawa/Revell kit. The resizing was pretty substantial
when I redid this artwork, such is the difference between the older
Italeri kit and the newer generation Hasegawa and Revell kits.
The CAG jet features markings for both the intake and
exhaust. You can get those accessories from Steel Beach.
This USMC sheet features a couple of very colorful (for
Marine jet anyways) CO schemes from the Death Dealers and Death
Rattlers. I've also thrown in some Litening II pod markings in there
for you guys that choose to include those on your model.
So
that adds up to nine sheets debuting at the Nats along with two
additional sheets that will make up the IPMS Nationals Decal Sheet.
Been a busy last couple of months artwork wise. I've already started
work on the post nats decals and I'll be knee deep into those once
we get back from the convention.
Two of the sheets that will
be part of that release are T-2C Buckeye related to include the
Hellenic, Bi-Centennial and VF-43 Adversary scheme. Just ran out of
time to finish those completely but they'll be available in short
order after the Nats.
